WHY Birds?

A high diversity of species indicates a structurally rich and intact landscape, while declines in individual species can point to environmental problems.
WHAT is measured?
Bird monitoring records species diversity and occurrence.
Bird calls are analysed so that species can be identified and presence records created.
This makes it possible to draw conclusions about the local bird life.
HOW is it measured?
Both traditional and modern methods are used:
Point counts and transect surveys record birds directly on site. In addition, devices such as AudioMoth and Song Meter automatically record bird calls.
The Merlin app helps to identify the species based on the recordings.
